Tahoe Blue Automotive at 10990 Industrial Way, Truckee, California.

I must give these guys all the kudos I can manage. They saved our bacon and made me believe that there are actually some honest car repair shops left in America. We drove from Santa Cruz, Ca to Reno, Nevada on I80 and had to stop at the chain up station to put on chains on my Mitsubishi Endeavor. After chaining up we pulled back onto the road and after only a few miles I noticed that the R indicator light on my shift panel was lit up as I was driving. I was concerned but since it was snowing, traffic was crawling along and we were in the middle of nowhere I could not pull over to check it so I kept going. Eventually reached the Kingvale Shell station and pulled off there. After using the facilities I started the vehicle up and noticed my R light was still on even when I was in Park. I put the vehicle in D and nothing happened! After popping the hood and checking fluids, looking for anything unusual and not finding anything which I would be able to fix I knew we had to do something fast. By the way, the people at the Shell station there are no help whatsoever ! Wife went in to ask about any towing companies in the area and the person at the station replied " read the sign in the parking lot" which was by the way covered with snow. I went over and got the number for the tow company and called a wrecker to pick us up. This was late in the afternoon and there was no other facilities close by. The wrecking company wanted to tow us to Colfax and not knowing the area we agreed. He said it would take about 45 minutes to get to us, as we were waiting I got on my laptop and checked for auto shops in Colfax. There were only two. One was closed and while I was leaving a message at the other one the owner picked up and advised me that I was closer to Truckee than I was to Colfax and they would be better equipped to get our vehicle looked at in Truckee as there were more shops. I thanked him and started researching auto shops in Truckee. The first one I called told me that they would not be able to help me after I described our problem but he referred me to Tahoe Blue Automotive and said they were great. Since I am not from the area I had to trust him and we were running out of time and daylight and I knew I would have to tell the wrecker where to take us to. By the way the wrecker charged me $420 bucks to haul me 15 miles which I thought was rather steep but I again had no choice. At any rate we got to Tahoe Blue Automotive and were met by Sam the son of the shop owner. He was very cordial and friendly and said they would give us a ride into Reno as were staying at the Atlantis Casino for our anniversary. After a few minutes his dad come to the desk and introduced himself as David and I explained our problem to him. He said they would take a look at it in the morning and let me know what was wrong with it. He gave us a ride to the Casino and did not charge us anything, in fact refused to accept money for gas ! Got a call the next day that our vehicle would be fixed in a few hours! I had already rented a car and was prepared to have to drive back to Santa Cruz and then come back in a week or so to pick up my vehicle and pay a huge repair bill because I knew it was a transmission problem and friends of ours have had transmission problems with their Endeavor and mine does have a few miles on it. Anyway that afternoon David called me and told me that he had fixed our vehicle! The bill was less than $400.00! He could have taken me for a ride and charged me an outrageous amount of money and I would not have known any better as I am not a mechanic but he did not. These guys went out of their way to help us out, worked on our car on a Saturday and even said they would work on it on Sunday if they needed to in order to get it fixed! I think they went above and beyond and I can not thank them enough!!!!!!!!!!!
